Sourdough Snickerdoodles

I created this recipe with my son in mind. They have always been his favorite cookies.

Servings: 36 cookies

Ingredients

For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup Butter, softened

  • 3 cups Flour

  • 2 cups Sugar

  • 100 g Sourdough Discard

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 tsp Vanilla

  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar

For the Coating:

  • 4 Tbsp Sugar

  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon

Preparation Steps

1. For the cookies: Using an electric mixer, beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 30 seconds.

2. Add the sugar, egg, sourdough discard, vanilla, baking soda, cream of tartar, and half of the flour. Beat until thoroughly combined.

3. Beat in the remaining flour. Cover the bowl and chill for 1 hour.

4. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls.

5. For the coating: Combine the sugar and cinnamon. Roll the balls in the mixture. Place them on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

6. Bake for 12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

7. Makes about 36 Snickerdoodles.
